Had a playdate the other day and on the same day, I found out that mum had shingles and that one of the babies Miss M had been diagnosed with chicken pox which led me to think what else is going to happen.
I then got spots and freaked out that I had chicken pox so headed to the doctors asap and was isolated from other waiting patients and put into the back room. Felt like a leper and whilst I waited, a black bug crawled out of the muslin wrap in the pram whilst Jaeminkins was sleeping. I yanked the muslin off quick smart and was impressed that Jaeminkins slept on as I did make a racket.
The diagnosis was good, I didn't have chicken pox as my blood work showed that I was immune since having it as a kid and I had insect bites instead. It was interesting to know that you can't get babies immunised for chicken pox til 18 months as studies have shown this is the best time to get immunity. The side effects for babies at 5 months are not that great so we have to wait it out. But the doctor did mention it was unusual for babies under 12 months to get chicken pox.
Bad news is that chicken pox has an incubation period of 10-14 days so if spots appear that's when they're contagious and they appear mostly around the chest and behind the ears.
But in the meantime, we've been advised to continue our outings, avoid people with chicken pox and so far Jaeminkins has been in good spirits so I'm not too concerned.
Pepe and I have noticed a bottom tooth coming through actually, it feels rough and jaggered and probably the reason why Jaeminkins has been so whingy and wanting to be picked up all the time. Poor bubba.
Good article I like to read this kind of article on regular basis. keep working and posting variety of articles.
